Buehler....BuehlerSunday 9/6/09 - Len
David Buehler may just be a kicker on the field, but I bet you he's one of the most athletic players on it when he steps between the lines. The 5th rounder from USC shocked his Dallas teammates when he beat Safety DeAngelo Smith in a 50-yard dash. According to the LA Times, his two unoffical times in the 40-yard dash were as follows: 4.56 and 4.63. Those can be compared to DBs and WRs! Not to bad for a guy who makes a living using his legs (or at least one of them). He's also quite the strongman- in that same published report in the LA Times, it was discovered that Pete Carroll was a witness to his athleticism as well and often used him as a safety or fullback in practice. At the combine, Buehler bench-pressed 225 twenty-five times, which would have ranked 1st among corners, 2nd among wideouts, 3rd among safties, 4th among TEs, 6th among tailbacks, and 8th among linebackers! To put it bluntly, when your facing Dallas and all you have between you and six points is the kicker- watch your head. |
